Position:            Gardening and Cooking Program Director

Reports to:        The Board of Directors

Hours:                Part time – 30 Hours per week



Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for community based activities, health promotion initiatives, building relationships, creating community awareness and coordinating and executing the overall summer operation of the Kids Lunch Club following direction of the Board of Directors.


Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:


  • Teach elementary students how to grow and prepare food through garden-based lessons in the Schoolyard garden
  • Lead indoor cooking classes with students
  • Work independently to complete miscellaneous garden tasks
  • Ensure that all garden and kitchen equipment is cleaned, stored, and maintained
  • Coordinate the distribution of garden produce
  • Document student and community engagement
  • Manage student data (waivers, surveys etc) collection for internal evaluation and review



  • Current Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector
  • Food Safety Certificate
  • Gardening and cooking experience (highly desirable)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Superior organizational skills and initiative
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Computer Skills/Social Media
  • Able to balance a small petty cash account
  • Attendance at Fundraisers and other significant events
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Adhere to the Oath of Confidentiality
  • Help our community embrace real food and foster new healthy eating habits through innovative events and creative marketing ideas
  • Carry out other duties as required



Child Hunger Brantford is currently searching for additional Board Members. This is a volunteer position requiring approximately ten (10) hours a month in the evening.
